Son verdaderas canciones de Depeche Mode, y además tienen lo que no tienen algunas de las del disco: Melodia!! aun asi, se agradece que haya tanto material esta vez, y que se lo hayan currado tanto, el DVD es de coleccionista.  Mención a parte merece Oh Well, una canción más rapida de lo que nos tienen acostumbrados los ingleses, un verdadero temazo electropop.

Depeche Mode en Madrid y Barcelona a finales de 2009.

Según me han contado es posible que Depeche Mode pasen por Madrid y Barcelona a finales de 2009 en su Winter Leg del Tour of the universe. Las fechas no estan confirmadas, ya que se esta esperando vender los tickets de sus actuaciones para Sevilla y Valladolid de este verano, pero probablemente sea en Noviembre o Diciembre.

Y es que según he leido en el Blog de Julian Ruiz Daniel Miller “Ha confirmado que habrá más de 57 fechas de las anunciadas para el “Tour of the Universe”.

Se lo estan montando muy bien y todavia no han sacado el disco.

Ayer escuche el nuevo álbum de Depeche Mode Sounds of the universe, y la primera sensación fue que Sounds of the universe es un disco maduro, que tiene unas canciones preciosas y unas letras de las mejores que ha escrito Martin. Sounds of the universe es sin duda el mejor disco de Depeche Mode desde SOFAD, esa es mi impresión, antes de analizar canción por canción dire que mis favoritas son Perfect, In Sympathy, Wrong, Jezbel y la mejor quizas Peace.

In Chains: Canción para abrir el disco, empieza con declaración de por donde iran los tiros de la producción, sonidos de sintes analógicos y vintage. Pero cuando entra la voz de Dave… piensas han vuelto, una melodia perfecta, preciosa con multitud de sonidos del universo vintage y con Dave tocandote el alma con su voz, Martin con un Wah que le da toques industriales y sucios.

Hole to feed: Primera canción de Dave y he decir que me ha sorprendido que no sea la versión que se habia filtrado, porque aquella parecia definitiva, entiendo que seria la demo casi acabada que presentaria Dave y Eigner, porque suena muy al Hourglass de Dave. A parte de este detalle, decir que es una constante en los temas de Dave, no hay melodia, le falta algo, son melodias muy basicas que se mejoran con los coros de Martin y los sintes que hay por debajo. Tema menor del disco.

Wrong: Primer single de Sounds of the universe y canción más impactante por su ritmo marchante y porque no tiene estribillo, un tema ciclico que engancha cuanto más lo escuchas. Buen single al estilo Depeche, pero no es sin duda el hit del disco. Muy buen tema con letras aún mejores.

Fragile Tension: Canción preciosa, de melodias constantes y con Dave dando lo mejor de todo, canción que juega muy bien con los tonos menores y con esos detalles de tres notas que hacen que la canción sea increible, no me convence el sonido de las guitarras con disctorsión en todo el disco, parecen grabadas con una Zoom 505, pero el resto de la canción me parece que se convertira en un clasico en la historia de Depeche Mode.

Little Soul: Canción a medio tiempo con melodias al más puro estilo Exciter, preciosas de nuevo, con Dave y Martin cantanto juntos. La producción te lleva a discos como Some Great Reward o Construction time again, canción intimista, para escuchar en una habitación a oscuras. Muy buena canción.

In sympathy: Quizas de las más comerciales del disco, con una linea de bajo acojonante que te lleva hacia delante todo el tema, sonidos analógicos usados a la perfección con nuevamente melodias increibles, todo lo que le falta a los temas de Dave lo tiene este tema. Estribillo al más puro estilo Depeche Mode, esto es un hit, atentos a las remezclas de este tema si sale como single porque puede ser un Top. De mis preferidas y de las vuestras seguro. La he escuchado 3 veces seguidas.

Peace: ¿Como hemos podido los fans de Depeche Mode vivir sin este tema antes? la melodia y las letras más bonitas que he escuchado en casi 15 años. Cuando entra un pad oscuro….se te va la cabeza, y el puente antes del estribillo es simplemente INCREIBLE cuando Dave sube la voz al falsete… sin palabras, solo hay que rendirse y escuchar. Producción al estilo de A Broken Frame.

Come Back: Otra canción de Dave, no se si me gusta por haber escuchado la versión “acústica” o porque realmente me guste, aunque sigue sin melodia, encontramos unos cambios de acorde que estan muy bien escogidos, y me vuelve a sorprender que esta versión no sea igual que la que se filtró. Quizas la mejor canción de Dave, buenas letras.

Spacewalker: Única canción instrumental del disco, muy a lo Jean Michel Jarre. No esta mal, tiene una paleta de sonidos analogicos muy interesante. Y algo en la melodia del principio un poco ¿francés? el ritmo es un poco bosanova. Para desengrasar

Perfect: Mi favorita del disco quizas, depende del momento, pero la melodia de la voz es de esas que dices….¿porque no la habre compuesto yo? cuando llega el estribillo y dice “everything was almost perfect” se te ponen los pelos de punta, junto a las guitarras con este tremolo que tanto le gusta a Martin. Temazo sin ningun tipo de dudas. Por fin! sin dudas han vuelto.

Miles away / The truth is: Tengo la sensación de estar escuchando la misma canción cada vez que Dave compone algo. No tiene melodia! aunque se mejora de nuevo por los coros de Martin. Tema pasable, esta bien, pero no lo pongo 3 veces seguidas.

Jezbel: Temazo, y punto. Única cancion que canta Martin, dios! que melodia de voz!! es que se te pone el cuerpo del revés, Martin se ha superado, no es Home pero sin duda es la mejor canción que ha cantado Martin en los ultimos tiempos. Vuelvo a decir que la melodia es preciosa, esta la pones 4 o 5 veces si hace falta. Letras increibles

Corrupt: Para este tema parece que les apetecia experimentar con los sonidos y las texturas. Tema con muchas partes, con unas guitarras que esta vez si que me convencen. Tema oscuro, muy depeche, perfecto para finalizar el disco. Buenas letras de nuevo.

En definitiva: El mejor disco de Depeche Mode desde SOFAD, un disco trabajado, maduro, que se nota que les apetecia hacer, no hay incoherencias, hay letras de quitarse el sombrero. Eso si, hay que escucharlo, y escucharlo de verdad. No es un disco comercial, pero es un discazo.
